Bernalillo County

Hide your guns somewhere other than on you for the next 30 days or there will be consequences. New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham says she is suspending open and concealed carry firearms privileges in Bernalillo County for the next 30 days at a news conference held in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The declaration is not clear if retired law enforcement and active off duty police officers are exempt from the order.

Governor Lujan Grisham said she expects a legal fight and many constitutional advocates say this will suspend the peoples second amendment rights.

The Executive Order provides $750,000 to state agencies for the purposes of quickly reducing gun violence and encourages mayors, sheriffs and other officials to request additional emergency funding from the state as well.

It is unclear what the consequences or criminal ramifications will be for citizens violating this order.

It is also unclear if the criminal element will read this order or pay attention and take it serious.
