Albuquerque –
This morning, we reported about a fatal crash that happened on Coors Blvd and Sevilla Avenue NW that killed one person. The Albuquerque Police Department’s Fatal Crash team was sent to the scene to investigate the crash. In an email, APD says the investigation shows there was a silver Ford Mustang traveling north on Coors Blvd. The Mustang approached another vehicle near the intersection and began flashing its lights and honking its horn. The driver of the other vehicle interpreted this as the driver of the Mustang wanting to race, but the second driver did not engage in the behavior.
The driver of the Mustang, identified as 20-year-old Isaiah Sena of Albuquerque, accelerated past the second vehicle. Sena swerved around stopped traffic at the intersection and entered the intersection on a red traffic signal.
A black Ford Edge was traveling westbound making a left hand turn onto southbound Coors with a green traffic signal. Sena struck the Edge on the driver’s door and both vehicles spun into southbound Coors Blvd. The crash resulted in the death of the Edge driver.
Sena, was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Sena has now been charged with Reckless Driving and Homicide by Vehicle. Sena will be taken into custody after he is released from the hospital.
Our research of court records shows that Sena was cited for speeding by APD on January 25th, 2024, for going 65 MPH in a 45 MPH zone on Unser Blvd. He was driving the same Mustang that was involved in todays fatal crash.
We will update the story with his booking mug once he is released from the hospital.
