Albuquerque –

Around 6:10 PM, on Wednesday, February 26, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department and emergency medical personnel from Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to the area of Central Ave NE & Utah St NE for a vehicle vs pedestrian crash.

When officers and firefighters arrived, they found one person who was hit by a vehicle. The individual was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital by Rescue 11. The car that hit the pedestrian reportedly fled the scene.

APD had westbound Central blocked off between Utah and Texas while they investigated this crash.

UPDATE:

At 7:10 PM, we learned that the person hit by a vehicle did not sustain life-threatening injuries. As a result, lanes of traffic should be opening back up soon.
