Old Town Albuquerque –
The Albuquerque Police Department was called out to the Old Town shops due to extensive vandalism in the area. When APD officers arrived, they found multiple business owners reeling from the damage to their hard-earned small businesses. Albuquerque Fire was also called to one location for a fire and arson investigation.

Surveillance video shows 40-year-old Dominic Ayon, whose residence is unknown, causing vandalism and setting fire to a building. He caused over $50,000 worth of damage. One of the buildings was the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, where Ayon destroyed windows valued at over $30,000.
Later in the day, APD officers were able to make contact with Ayon at Tiguex Park and took him into custody. When officers informed him that they had video proof of him committing these criminal acts, he exclaimed ‘entrapment‘ and refused to answer any further questions.
The small businesses in Old Town are holding on by a thread and these criminal acts have made it difficult for the businesses to survive. It is more than likely they will have to pay out of pocket for many of these repairs to avoid a costly increase in their business insurance.
A special session called in July by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham was quickly dismissed by Democratic lawmakers.
We reached out to Speaker of the House Javier Martinez, who dismissed the Special Session and represents the Old Town district, about how businesses can survive in this climate of crime. We have not heard back from him but will update the story if he responds.
Ayon is currently charged with two felonies of criminal damage to property over $1,000 and could face arson charges once AFR finishes their investigation.
Ayon has a criminal record dating back to 2018 ranging from domestic violence, vandalism, and trespassing. A majority of those cases were dismissed.

Looks like he needs a touppe
No doubt this will also be dismissed. Whats up Mr. Speaker of the House Javier Martinez??!!! Do your constituents mean anything to you????!!! You and the rest of your ilk (including judges and the current city administration) are just worthless politicians who only care about yourselves and could not give a fkn shit about people that have to put in 18 hours a day to keep their small business afloat.
Time to start killing these vermin whenever they reveal themselves. Our “justice system” is clearly incapable and unwilling to do what is necessary to protect the lives and livelihoods of productive, Better citizens.
