Albuquerque –
After a briefing about a Bernalillo County Deputy involved shooting, Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen opened up to attending media to address the DWI bribery scheme investigated by federal authorities now involving his department. His very recent second in command Undersheriff Johann Jareno is now the second BCSO sworn law enforcement person under federal investigation related to the DWI Enterprise.
“This is a gut punch. This is a kick to my balls, and two black eyes, to be honest with you. What do I do to start that? How do we move forward? The rank and file that’s out there right now, fighting crime. Now they have some gaps in leadership. I always take decisive action. How do we move forward and do it correctly?“, said Sheriff Allen.
Now fired BCSO Deputy Jeff Hammerel pled guilty to federal extortion and bribery charges in connection to the DWI Unit scandal. He mentioned in his plea that a supervisor helped him cover up the bribery scheme. All signs and “bread crumbs” point to Undersheriff Johann Jareno being that supervisor.
“I will drop breadcrumbs. None of you are connecting the dots. I’m going to help you a little bit while I’m in Washington DC. I have been an investigator for a very, very long time, and one of your main issues is law enforcement officers to watch human behavior,” said Sheriff Allen.
Sheriff Allen also focused on a group photo that was taken in 2023 with his command staff with now convicted Rick Mendez, Thomas Clear III’s paralegal/private investigator/scheme fixer, who would be the contact person for the bribery scheme.

“Mr. Jareno set up that lunch with Mr. Mendez.” Was this the first time the sheriff and Mendez spent time together? “No. We met on some occasions. As I told you, I was very upfront with you, and and I believe nobody asked with it. Mr. Mendez gave me a $200 donation if I knew what was going on,” said Sheriff Allen.
Sheriff Allen assured the public that the department will remain fully cooperative with federal authorities throughout the remainder of the investigation.
In the ever expanding DWI Enterprise Scheme. APD has 13 officers that have been placed on leave, resigned, were fired, or abruptly retired. The New Mexico State Police have one officer that’s been named. BCSO has a total of two, one former deputy who just plead to federal charges and now fired Undersheriff Jareno under federal investigation.
I’m very VERY disappointed to see Sheriff Allen use such disgusting language in his interview. So unnecessary, and beneath the level of a “public servant” who is in such an important leadership role, and from someone whom many people, especially the youth of our state, should look up to as an important role model. Where have the exceptional and respectful examples of what it means to be a sheriff, police chief, or fire chief, etc., gone? Answer – down the WOKE, “it’s all good” sewer drain.
But, I’m sure I’m in the minority. Same for cops that are tatted from head to toe. Used to be a time not that long ago when they had to wear “sleeves” to hide that crap, but now, it’s completely overlooked and sadly, welcomed and encouraged.
In a way, this is a sobering reflection of why we are in the situation we are as a city, state, and country today. Now the cops use some of the filthiest language one will ever hear in their everyday line of work. Half the audio in lapel video of most cops has to be bleeped when aired on public airways because it’s so offensive and disgusting. And I hear it from the women cops just about as much as I hear it from men. Apparently, bad language, respectful dialogue, and public image/interaction aren’t even training topics anymore when going through the academy. I understand that when facing life and death encounters with a criminal, bad words may fly, but it’s all the time now, just like in the sheriff’s interview. It’s offensive to anyone who doesn’t use that kind of language, and especially women! At least, most of the women I know. But hey, that’s just me…..
Ok boomer, time for your nap
OK punk. Time to get a job.
Did you miss your nap too? The nurses should really be better about making sure you’re getting the rest you need at your age.
Thank you for focusing on the important things we face each day, the means justify the ends and not in reverse right? LOL
I know that many a day I have lost sleep over such users of “disgusting language” in jobs that require they be hardened beyond the social elite.
Same for cops who also use “foul language” and were “tatted from head to toe” like US Navy Sailors since the inception of our great Republic while defending us from enemies abroad against those that the prim, proper, polite and meek weren’t willing to get into the fight with.
Thanks for bringing to light the cussing and “tatted” up types protecting us from the trash, they should be ashamed of their hard behavior in taking out the garbage…
So tell us how you REALLY feel!! lol
I agree completely. Well said.
Note to self: When doing damage control don’t create more damage with careless unprofessional statements.
Local police officers know that FBI and DEA are investigating how corrupt they are or may be. My question is how many of them have been taking gifts (bribes) from local illegal drug dealers? Kash Patel, Dan Bongino and Tom Homan are not playing. They will prosecute dirty cops and politicians in New Mexico.
So you did vote for that South African immigrant, and the other Trumpy Trout loyal lap doggies? Maybe you are a Proud Boy, too? Trumpy Trout did take “a $250 Million Dollar Bribe” from his South African immigrant last fall, but that seems to be fine with you. Trumpy Trout, as he was Campaigning in 2024, also was flying in “Jeffrey Epstein’s Baby Raping Jet”, since his own Jet was being held hostage in Montana, due to Trumpy Trout refusing to Pay for the Fuel, Montana provided to help Trumpy Trout run for Office, the first time he ran. I am sure you are well aware of that Fact.
Kash Patel, Dan Bongino and Tom Homan are IN FACT playing. Because they have no idea wtf they’re doing and have no business in the FBI. They wont last long.

Well if we see how “easy” it is/was at this level of corruption and how little really it took, we can see how political (Washington D.C.) and Cartel money/influence can corrupt,……………….unfortunately. Maybe the Bible is right when it talks about Mankind consuming itself and others.
The “Bible” Trumpy Trout Refused to lay his hands on, during his Public Inauguration? Ask Trumpy Trout, why he refused, to Swear his Oath, to our US Constitution before God, and the US Public. Shows how little he respects your version of the “Bible”. Ask why he chooses to ignore God’s Ten Commandments, as he yet again, fakes his out his Evangelical loyal supporters…. Maybe he knew God would smite him down, a Biblical term, for his Godly Disrespect? Now that would reaffirm all Americans, belief in God, over a mere ‘boy/man, using His Name in vain.
Amen Gary. Well said.
It is not “my Bible”, I was just using that as a reference to sins of greed and power, etc that this tRump was , has, will participate in. Saying that if cops ( our pillar of trust and reliance in the past) were this easily swayed by what little money they were getting, can’t we see what happens to politicians, who are courted by corporations and billionaires to do their bidding.,
I actually liked that Sheriff Allen showed his true emotions. It’s refreshing to see and hear a Sheriff let it all out. If I were betrayed like he has been, then that emotion is justified, in my opinion. So what if he said a few words that some people find distasteful, TOO BAD. I’ve heard worse from the cops on the street. There’s a quote from Plato that I love: “”The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs, is to be ruled by evil men.” Take heed!
¡DESGRACIADOS..FUCK THE POLICE..BE YOUR OWN HERO!
Over the years, I have worked with a lot of liars. I have also been gaslighted in relationships when I confronted boyfriends on their atypical or conflicting behaviors. Overwhelmingly, liars will respond with over-the-top disbelief and injury. They will also use what I call “shock value” in describing their pain at having been accused or even associated with atypical behavior. I think they want to shock the accuser to a level where it’s too uncomfortable for the accuser to press on with questions. Liars’ reactions are extreme because they lack the emotional maturity to have constructive conversations that require a closer look at what led up to lying in the first place. Children do this a lot. Their only defense is their hysteria. They know lying is a bad thing, but they also know how to act in order to get what they want. Tip: when you’re acting inappropriately in response to a basic, logical inquiry, you can assume that everyone knows you’re lying. They feel sorry for you to have to sink so low, but the gas lighters and the liars are just children who never learned that lying is not a skill or an art, it is just shameful.
