Man Shoots Himself After Minor Car Crash in NW ABQ

Albuquerque –

At around 11:00 AM, a crash near Irving Blvd NW and Universe Blvd NW was phoned in to 911. The 911 call taker was informed by the caller that following the crash, one of the drivers had shot themselves.

Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were sent to the scene. The driver with the gunshot wound was then transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital in critical condition. The driver died at UNMH.

A witness on the scene stated that the firearm used was a revolver.

APD officers and Police Service Aides have blocked off the entire intersection while they investigate what led to this bizarre incident. Drivers should avoid the area.
