Man Shot in Head in Rio Rancho, Suspects Seen Fleeing Scene

Rio Rancho –

On October 30, 2024, at 4:10 p.m., officers from the Rio Rancho Police Department were dispatched in response to reports of shots fired near the intersection of Inca Rd. and 2nd St. SE. Officers arrived on scene and began rendering aid to an adult* male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The male was transported to an area hospital for trauma care. 

Witnesses told us they heard what sounded like automatic gunfire and they saw four men with ski masks.

“The scene is active at this time. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Rio Rancho Police immediately,” said Captain Jacquelynn Reedy of the Rio Rancho Police Department.

UPDATE:

A relative posted on Facebook that their nephew, Adrian, was the person shot yesterday in Rio Rancho. The individual says their nephew is just 15-year-old. They asked for the public’s help in identifying a person seen with Adrian. The Facebook post is below. If you have any information on this incident, please contact the Rio Rancho Police Department.

On Tuesday, October 30th, at 4:10pm, Rio Rancho Dispatch received a call regarding a shooting near the intersection of Inca Rd and 2nd St. SE. Officers arrived on scene and located a juvenile male with an apparent gun shot wound to the head. Rio Rancho Police and Rio Rancho Fire Rescue began rendering life saving aid. The victim was transported to an area hospital for trauma care where he remains in critical condition.

The investigation is still ongoing and active at this time. The Rio Rancho Police Criminal Investigations Division is following up all leads to identify all persons involved in this incident in order to file appropriate criminal charges which will lead to successful prosecution.

We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected by this tragedy. Our hearts go out to all those impacted, and we stand with you during this difficult time.
