Albuquerque –

Around 3PM, Bernalillo County Deputies responded to the South Frontage Rd, approaching the intersection with Shelly Dr SW, in reference to a crash with injuries.

One of the vehicles involved was being driven by a corrections officer, with a prisoner, to MDC. The prisoner attempted to flee the scene, attempted to take another vehicle, but was not able to escape. The prisoner, the corrections officer, and the other driver all sustained injuries

“The prisoner was transported to the hospital for their injuries but I don’t have an update on the CO (corrections officer) or other party at this time,” said Jayme Fuller Gonzales, Public Information Officer with BCSO.

The prisoner will likely face felony charges in his brazen attempt to escape after the crash.
