Albuquerque –
Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department’s Foothills Area Command are investigating a single-vehicle crash at Tramway Blvd NE and Menaul Blvd NE. A motorcyclist was critically injured in the accident, and according to a witness, the rider suffered a limb amputation.
Albuquerque Fire Rescue’s Engine 8 and Rescue 8 responded to the scene and rendered medical aid. AFR transported the motorcyclist to the University of New Mexico Hospital as a “scoop and run,” which typically indicates the patient had critical injuries at the time of transport.
Police have closed the turn lanes from Menaul Blvd to northbound Tramway, as well as from Tramway to westbound Menaul. Road closures may be expanded or adjusted as the investigation continues.
We will provide updates if and when more information becomes available.
