Christopher Facey, 33, Albuquerque
Westside Albuquerque –
According to sworn police officer and APD spokesman, Chase Jewell, the Albuquerque Police Departments Homicide Unit is taking over an investigation that occurred in the Northwest area of Albuquerque just before midnight.
APD Officers were originally dispatched to the area of 5700 Bogard St NW (the Santa Fe Village Dog Park) around 11 pm, to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash. A preliminary investigation on scene determined the crash appeared to be intentional. This has prompted the response of APD Homicide to take over the investigation.
APD civilian spokesman, Gilbert Gallegos released more information this morning indicating that Christopher Facey, 33, was arrested today around 8 a.m. at a home located at 10244 Shawna Ct., N.W.
Homicide detectives determined Facey was with a woman late Friday in the parking lot of a dog park located at 5700 Bogart St., N.W. He was in a relationship with the woman, who is married, and they had met at the park. They were sitting in his black Nissan Titan truck when her husband, Guadalupe Maldonado drove up with his friend and confronted the woman.
The woman said she told Facey to leave, but Maldonado stepped in front of the truck. Facey accelerated and struck Maldonado, running over him with the truck.
The woman said she and the other man who arrived with Maldonado picked up Maldonado’s body and put him in her truck, and drove him to an urgent care facility on Coors Blvd. Doctors declared Maldonado to be deceased shortly before midnight.
The woman said Facey drove away from the scene in his truck.
Facey is charged with 2nd Degree Murder, accident involving death, and homicide by vehicle.
