According to APD, homicide detectives are starting an investigation into a shooting in the area of Central Ave. and Tingley Dr., S.W.
Officers were initially alerted to the shooting at 9:46 p.m. that injured a passenger in a vehicle. First-responders determined the victim was critically injured and rushed them to UNMH for life saving measures.
Witnesses told us they saw a white SUV crashed near the intersection.
APD went on to say a result of the severity of the injuries, homicide detectives were called out to investigate.

APD detectives are investigating a likely road rage shooting that critically injured a female passenger in a vehicle that was traveling on I-40 Tuesday evening.
Witnesses said shots were fired from a black SUV with blue-tinged headlights around 9:40 p.m. on westbound I-40 between the Big I and Coors Blvd. The black SUV was traveling alongside a white SUV when several shots were fired, striking the female passenger in the white SUV.
After the shooting, the driver of the white SUV drove to the area of Central Ave. and Tingley Dr., and approached a Police Service Aid who was working at the River of Lights. Rescue personnel responded and rushed the victim to the hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds. The victim, an adult female, is in critical condition.
Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call 505-242-COPS.
