Around 10:30AM, APD was called in reference to two subjects stealing from a Dollar General in SE Albuquerque. While being confronted by store employees one of the subjects battered the employee. The two left the area and started walking down the street between Tramway and Eubank Ave on the Central Ave corridor. The pair got onto a City of Albuquerque bus and attempted to get away from the scene.
The City of Albuquerque bus system is zero fare and many thieves use the bus system to get onto the bus and escape the scene of their crimes.
The suspects were able to board a bus heading westbound on Central Ave. APD officers were able to make the bus stop. Officers boarded the bus and arrested the suspects without incident.
