Village Inn located at 2282 Wyoming Blvd NE
Albuquerque, NM –
On February 1st, around 2:02 am, Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) received a dispatch to the Village Inn situated at 2282 Wyoming Blvd NE in response to potential indications of a structure fire.
Engine 9 (E9) promptly arrived at the location and reported a minor commercial building ablaze, emanating from the exterior storage room. The fire was successfully brought under control within 20 minutes of their arrival. Notably, the damage primarily affected the storage closet and roof areas of the structure.
According to AFR’s Instagram account, one civilian was removed from the structure and was transported with significant burn injuries to the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) by Rescue 9. AFR Fire Investigators are currently at the scene to ascertain the cause and origin of the fire.
While on the scene, we observed that the Village Inn had a banner outside, indicating they were closed for remodeling. Additionally, we noted a boarded-up window, likely the result from it being broken at some point, it is not known who broke the window. A heavily burnt microwave had been removed from the structure and discarded outside. It remains uncertain whether an individual broke into the Village Inn overnight, tried to cook a meal, and sparked a fire. We also saw workers actively repairing the roof and electronic signage on the Village Inn property. It is uncertain how this fire will impact their reopening timeline.
As of now, no additional information is available.
