Albuquerque –
Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department responded shortly after 8:00 PM to the area of 8th Street SW and Avenida Dolores Huerta after receiving reports of a male with a gunshot wound. Avenida Dolores Huerta use to be Bridge Blvd, but was renamed in 2021. The male was located by responding officers and pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness contacted us and said the shooting purportedly happened at the Circle K. They reportedly saw a man dead near the sidewalk. From what we could observe, APD also had the AutoZone blocked off. Avenida Dolores Huerta is closed going west between 4th and 8th.
APD homicide detectives have started an investigation into the fatal shooting.

This is the second homicide investigation in Bernalillo County today. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a triple homicide that happened in Tijeras.

APD officers were dispatched shortly after, around 8:06 PM, to respond to a report of a shooting. Call notes indicated that a male had been shot in the chest, a gun was reportedly left at the scene, and the suspect fled eastbound. When officers arrived, they found people performing CPR on a man lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds to his chest and left arm.
