Albuquerque –
Just before 5 PM, a security guard called 911 to report that a shooting had occurred near 1200 Dickerson Dr. SE. According to the security guard, an armed man reportedly shot another man in the leg and fled the scene.
Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were dispatched, and at the time of the shooting, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was staged in the area because the scene had not yet been deemed secure. Upon officers’ arrival, they found one man with a lower extremity gunshot wound.
Emergency medical crews from AFR and AAS were eventually cleared to render additional medical aid. Around 5:33 PM, AAS transported the injured male with the help of paramedics from AFR Engine 2 and Rescue 2 to a local area hospital.
APD is actively searching for the suspect. Streets around 1200 Dickerson Dr. SE may be blocked off as officers continue the search.
APD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit has been called in to handle the investigation.
