ALBUQUERQUE –

Albuquerque Police Homicide detectives are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early this morning.

Initially, APD officers responded to a separate incident, a car crash in the Barelas neighborhood, when they were flagged down about a shooting near Gold Avenue and 5th Street SW. At the scene, authorities found one person fatally shot and another with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. The injured victim was transported to a local hospital.

The investigation is ongoing, and APD’s homicide detectives are in the preliminary stages of their investigation.

This is the 67th homicide in the Albuquerque Metro area for 2024.

  1. Hi, I’m hoping you can find an answer to my question. This is in relationship to the shooting at fifth and Gold Sunday morning. We also had a giant shootout two cars chasing people down the street at the 1900 block of Yarborough Northwest about the same time. None of that has made any news, and I was just curious, based on videos of the cars, could these two events be related somehow.? I appreciate your help on this, thanks a lot, Molly Crosby.
