Head-On Crash Kills One on Route 66

Albuquerque –

The Albuquerque Police Department’s Fatal Crash Team responded to a deadly crash early this morning at the intersection of Central Avenue and 47th Street SW, just before 3:00 AM.

Initial reports indicate that a black Dodge truck was heading east on Central Avenue when it lost control near 47th Street SW, crossing into the westbound lanes. The truck collided head-on with a black Toyota Scion that was traveling westbound.

The driver of the Toyota Scion suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both the driver and passenger of the Dodge truck were taken to a nearby hospital.

The investigation is still underway. Any additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
