Around 1:25PM, we observed that there was a “mutual aid” call for Albuquerque Fire Rescue 7 to stage near Old Coors and Gonzales Rd SW. We have not heard from police about what is going on, but the AFR dispatch logs report that there is a barricaded suspect inside that reportedly shot at police.

Around 1:45PM, we received a tip and videos from an eyewitness that there is a police presence near Old Coors and Sunset Gardens Rd SW. The officers have reportedly been seen with their guns drawn. From the videos, it appears as though the officers on scene are APD officers. In one of the videos, you can hear an officer telling nearby residents that “the area is not safe right now, this is a police emergency.”

At 2:05PM, we got two more tips from eyewitness that live in the area and they confirmed that police were walking around the area with rifles drawn.

We have not gotten confirmation from police about what is going on in this area, but we are advising people to avoid this area, if possible.

UPDATE:

At 2:27PM, AFR was cleared from the scene. We do not know if anyone was arrested by the police, but one of the eyewitnesses that lives in the area said police were still on scene and it looked as though they were gathering evidence.

Updates will be provided as they become available.
