Albuquerque – Today after leaving one of our favorite Menudo spots in the ABQ War Zone we observed a silver vehicle speeding west on Zuni at Pennsylvania. This excited us as we noticed no officers were following but we looked up and saw APD’s airplane code name Air-5 circling above. We drove around the war zone searching for where this silver car went and noticed a large amount of APD vehicles detaining a male and female in the area of Gibson and Arizona SE.
We learned that originally the man being detained was speeding throughout the metro on a crotch rocket type motorcycle which was previously stolen. The man ditched the motorcycle in a mobile home park behind Home Depot near Central and Eubank. The man then met up with a female and the couple sped out of the mobile home park in a silver Hyundai. APD’s airplane was patrolling and followed the car and called out to ground officers with location updates. The couple did continue driving around with no care in the world endangering ABQ citizens until eventually they tried to hide in a garage at a home near Arizona and Gibson SE.
While officers searched the man he claimed he had “swallowed some blues”. Blues are typically a street name for oxycodone and are usually laced with fentanyl. Rescue was called to check on the man. The man could also be heard saying what he did was “fun” and he was “strung out”.
