Rail Runner Knife Suspect Booked into Custody

Luis Sanchez is accused of stabbing people on the NM Rail Runner

North Valley Albuquerque –

On March 19th, 2022, NM Rail Runner knife attack suspect was booked into Bernalillo County Metro Detention Center. Luis Sanchez is accused of stabbing three people aboard the train.

The New Mexico State Police are the investigating agency for the knife attack. New Mexico State Police Detectives took Sanchez to their office to interview him. When they uncuffeded him, he tried to reach for an officer’s duty weapon. The officer was able to handcuff Sanchez to a bench. A second incident of Sanchez trying to grab an officer’s weapon happened while he was being escorted to a transport van.

Police inspected a backpack Sanchez was carrying on the train and found a loaded handgun inside. The complaint says it had blood on the gun and there was a bullet loaded in the chamber.

Sanchez has various violent felony charges dating back to 2007.

In this case Sanchez is charged with three counts of aggravated battery (Deadly Weapon), two counts of evading or obstructing an officer and receipt, transportation or possession of a firearm or destructive device by certain persons (Felon).
