Albuquerque –
Around 5 PM, a crash with injuries was reported near Eagle Ranch Rd NW and Irving Blvd NW.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Rio Rancho Police Department was pursuing a vehicle into Albuquerque in connection with suspects alleged to have committed aggravated battery against a police officer. The RRPD officer reportedly attempted to stop a Mercedes near NM 528 and Southern Blvd when the Mercedes rammed the patrol unit multiple times, including striking the cruiser’s door, before fleeing.
The injuries reported in the crash at Irving and Eagle Ranch are believed to be minor.
At least three individuals have been taken into custody by RRPD and are expected to face charges in Sandoval County related to the alleged aggravated battery on a police officer.
Officers with the Albuquerque Police Department responded to the scene and are assisting RRPD with traffic control and scene management.
Drivers should anticipate delays in the area until the involved vehicles are removed and the roadway is cleared.
