RV Fire Causes Massive Delays at Big I, Flyover Closed

Albuquerque –

Southbound Interstate 25 is shut down from the eastbound Interstate 40 flyover. Officers are responding to an RV fire that was a result of a motor vehicle crash.

The public is encouraged to avoid the area and seek an alternate route.

UPDATE:

On February 7, 2025, around 12:30 PM, multiple reports came in for an RV fire on I-40 eastbound near University. Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) responded, with Albuquerque Ambulance also arriving on scene. They assisted an occupant and several animals out of the RV, then transported the occupant to a local area hospital. AFR’s Engine 11 was in the area and took command of the incident, with Squad 2 and Engine 4 also being dispatched. Engine 11 stretched a line for fire suppression, while Engine 4 supplied water to Engine 11 via a tanker transfer. The RV was a total loss, and the cause of the fire is undetermined.
