Albuquerque – APD traffic investigators are looking into what caused a single-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of its driver.
Around 11:00PM last night officers were dispatched to a crash in the area of Candelaria Rd., N.E. and Edith Bl. N.E. Officers determined one person had died on scene and they called the Fatal Crash Unit to the scene to investigate further.
Investigators discovered that a red Geo Tracker for unknown reasons was traveling west on Candelaria Rd. in the westbound lanes of traffic. The vehicle appears to have struck the center median and then lost control of the vehicle just west of Edith Blvd. The vehicle then spun once, and continued on its side westbound on Candelaria until it struck a light post on the north sidewalk at about Candelaria and Franciscan St., N.E.
The driver died on scene. Speed and alcohol were believed to be factors.
