Upon arrival, officers found the man and pronounced him dead at the scene. Arriving officers learned that the man had reportedly been stabbed. As part of the investigation, authorities began blocking off streets in the area to secure the crime scene perimeter and protect evidence.

At approximately 11:28 PM, crime scene specialists were called out to document evidence. The APD also extended the perimeter and blocked more lanes of traffic as they reportedly discovered a blood trail leading into the median on Menaul.

The APD violent crimes unit is now investigating this as a homicide. This is the 94th homicide of 2024 in the Albuquerque metro area.
