Stolen Car Recovered near Home Depot Parking Lot, APD Takes 2 into Custody

Albuquerque –

Around 11:15AM, the Albuquerque Police Department was patrolling the War Zone when a stolen Nissan Murano was spotted near Zuni and San Mateo. APD officers started to safely observe the vehicle and it was traveling towards I-40 with at least two occupants.

The vehicle continued to I-40 westbound at a normal speed and got off at the Coors Blvd, Frontage Road, exit. APD officers were able to initiate a felony traffic stop in a parking lot of 5201 Ouray Blvd. NW. APD surrounded the vehicle and gave commands for the occupants to exit the vehicle.

We arrived at the scene to see one last occupant exiting the vehicle with his hands up holding a cigarette in his mouth and holding an unopened bottle of coke. He enjoyed one last drag of the frajo before being taken into custody. At least 2 people were taken into custody for this incident.

We will update the story when formal charges are filed against the suspects of this case.
