Mayor Keller was elected to a second term on November 2nd, 2021 and a few days later it was announced Nyika Allen, City of Albuquerque Aviation Director, is moving on to Oakland, California to take a position with the Port of Oakland.
One of Mayor Tim Keller’s first actions as a new mayor in 2018 was to appoint Nyika Allen to the Aviation Director at the ABQ Sunport. Allen had no prior experience in the aviation industry. Keller touted her work within the technology industry as a way to create opportunities for the Sunport and the City.
This is the first big name to leave the Keller administration after the election.
Deputy Director Richard McCurley will take over the ABQ Sunport director position.
