Albuquerque –
The Albuquerque Police Department announced more details on the intense police chase that led Albuquerque Police officers through the War Zone and Northeast Heights on Monday.
According to an email by APD, officers arrested 17-year-old Dominic Sena for an armed carjacking that led to a police pursuit and injured a bystander this afternoon in Southeast Albuquerque.
Sena is accused of pointing a handgun at a woman as she backed out of a driveway of a residence in the area of 8100 San Joaquin Ave., S.E. The woman said Sena opened her door as he held the gun, and she turned the vehicle off as she exited. She ran into the residence in fear for her life.
The woman said she saw an SUV approach and stop because her car was blocking the roadway. She said Sena got out of her vehicle, which he could not start, and pointed his gun at the driver of the SUV.
The driver of the SUV told police that Sena was holding the grip of what she believed to be a handgun tucked in his waistband. He pulled the gun out and pointed it at her face. She exited the SUV and Sena got in and fled westbound on San Joaquin.
Officers in the Southeast Area Command responded to reports of the carjacking at 1:50 p.m. After locating the stolen SUV, a supervisor authorized a police pursuit to take the suspect into custody. An officer was behind the SUV, traveling southbound on Louisiana when a supervisor authorized a PIT maneuver, which allowed the officer to bump the rear quarter of the vehicle to force it to rotate counter-clockwise and come to a stop.
As a result of the collision, the officer’s vehicle hit the curb on the west side of the street, drove onto a sidewalk and hit a light pole. The vehicle continued into a fence at a property at 7009 Cochiti Rd., S.E. A transient male who was behind the fence was struck, possibly by the fence or debris from the vehicle going through the fence. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for a fractured jaw and broken ribs.
APD civilian spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said the victim is expected to make a full recovery.
Sena was taken into custody. The owner of the SUV gave police permission to search the vehicle. A firearm was located and seized.
APD goes on to say, Sena is being charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, attempt to commit a 2nd degree felony, aggravated fleeing and unlawful carrying of a handgun.
He will be booked into the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center and the mijito will be released back to a guardian in the coming days. It is unclear if Sena will be charged as an adult.
Too bad the cops didn’t fucking shoot this shithead 96 times!! It’s the usual
Juveniles should be charged and sentenced as adults.
Juvenile vermin need to be killed, same as adult vermin.
