SWAT and Crisis Teams Respond to Barricaded Individual

Albuquerque –

There is police activity in the area of Solano Dr NE and Aspen Ave NE. The Albuquerque Police Department’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams have been activated to assist officers in apprehending an individual who has barricaded inside an apartment.

This reportedly extends from an argument between residents, during which time, a weapon was presented. APD officers have attempted to have the barricaded individual exit their residence, but the person has not complied. APD has been in the area for well over an hour trying to negotiate with the barricaded individual. This has prompted the tactical response.

Residents in the area have been requested by APD to shelter in place. The public is asked to avoid the area as there is a heavy police presence at this time.
