Texas Roadhouse Server Charged in Shooting of Man Who Stole His Necklace, Victim Also Faces Charges

On October 8th, 2025, around 3:35 PM, a gunshot victim was reported at 5400 Academy Rd NE, the location of Sadie’s on Academy. According to initial reports, an altercation occurred around 3:30 PM between two men at the Texas Roadhouse nearby.

28-year-old Gabriel Sena is now being charged with the shooting that left one man in critical condition. According to a criminal complaint, Sena was working at the Texas Roadhouse located at 5900 Pan American Freeway when Joshua McKeough came into the restaurant and asked for “Gabe.” He found Sena and pushed another employee out of the way to punch him. During the battery, McKeough allegedly ripped a necklace off of Sena and ran out of the restaurant.

The complaint goes on to say, Sena, valued the necklace at over $2,700 and went to his car to retrieve a gun. The two traveled a half mile up the road with both on their phones simultaneously in front of Sadie’s. Sena told police he saw McKeough appear to reach into his right pocket and Sena fired a single shot.

Sena put the firearm down and called 911 after the shooting and peacefully gave up to the Albuquerque Police. McKeough was struck near his femoral artery and employees from Sadie’s who witnessed the shooting immediately provided medical aide to McKeough.

Sena told police he did not know McKeough.

Sena was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. McKeough was charged with robbery and larceny over $2,500.

Sena was booked into MDC on October 9th, and McKeough will be booked once he recovers from his gunshot wound.
