Two-Alarm Fire Displaces Eight at Arioso Apartments

On Sunday, January 26, at approximately 4:00 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) responded to a structure fire at the Arioso Apartments, located at 7303 Montgomery NE, following reports of smoke and active smoke alarms in Building 3. Engine 16 arrived on the scene and reported a two-story multifamily dwelling with visible smoke on the second floor. The fire had breached the roof of two units, prompting an upgrade to a second alarm.

Engine 13 deployed a ground ladder to access a second-story apartment, where they located and successfully rescued an occupant still inside. Crews worked aggressively to contain the fire, bringing it under control within two hours of arrival.

The incident caused significant damage, including fire and smoke damage to several second-floor units and water damage affecting multiple first-floor apartments. One individual was treated on the scene, and no firefighter injuries were reported. AFR Fire Investigators were dispatched to determine the fire’s cause and origin, which remains undetermined at this time.

Approximately eight residents have been displaced due to the incident. The Red Cross has been requested to assist with temporary accommodations.
