Just before 2PM, a caller reported that shots were fired at the Playa Del Sol Apartments at 444 Florida St SE. The apartment complex is situated on Florida St, between Bell and Zuni. The caller stated that at least one person was hit by gunfire. Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department (APD), Albuquerque Fire and Rescue (AFR) and Albuquerque Ambulance Services (AAS) were sent to the scene.

When officers arrived, they found a female with a gunshot wound. AFR transported the woman to the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH). AAS also took a man to UNMH. It’s unclear if he was shot or what injuries he has. His injury was not considered life-threatening.

The circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear. Authorities believe the offender fled the scene.

APD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) is investigating this incident. GVRU typically responds when the shooting victim’s injuries are not critical.
