Two Killed in Shooting Outside Auto Parts Store in South Valley

Albuquerque –

Around 5:20 PM on Sunday, September 14, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a double shooting near 2712 Sunshine W Plaza Dr, which is the O’Reilly Auto Parts.

At the listed location, it was reported that one person was shot in the head. Fire and Rescue radio transmissions indicated this person died at the scene. Another person was also transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound. BCSO stated this person died at UNMH.

Just after the shooting, BCSO deputies were searching for the offenders who fled from the scene, reportedly in the victim’s car. It’s believed deputies detained one person a short time later in connection with this shooting.

A bystander reported seeing a body in the parking lot and was informed by deputies that the individuals who were shot reportedly were employees of O’Reilly Auto Parts. This has not been confirmed by BCSO.

This is an active and developing situation. BCSO states: “We currently have one male suspect detained and air support is assisting deputies in locating another suspect.”
