Today, a judge ruled that 18-year-old Daniel Medrano Garcia will stay in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center as his case proceeds through the judicial process. In May, investigators found the body of 16-year-old Jesus Quintana Cota in Pajarito Mesa and revealed that he had been shot to death.

Reportedly, a judge decided that 17-year-old Dominik Marquez, charged with murder and multiple other crimes related to the death of a 16-year-old, will also remain in custody.

The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office aims to charge all three teens involved as adults. Investigators believe a female co-defendant lured Quintana Cota, then robbed and murdered him. Medrano Garcia, 17 at the time of the crimes, is now 18, and the state seeks to charge him as an adult.

As we reported to you on Friday, Mariana Gomez, the female co-conspirator, and Dominik Marquez, were also arrested for their role in this murder. They reportedly booked Gomez into MDC and Marquez into YSC. Charges against the suspects include 1st-degree murder, kidnapping, robbery, conspiracy, and tampering with evidence.
