ALBUQUERQUE – APD homicide detectives have charged 16-year-old Jeremy Jones, of Rio Rancho, for this week’s murder of an Albuquerque homeowner, Christopher Sanchez, 37. Sanchez interrupted a group trying to steal his truck and confronted them. We do not have a booking mug of Jones since he is a juvenile, it is state law that the court system does not release mugshots of teens.
Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a white or light silver SUV, possible a Ford Escape between the years of 2008 and 2012 also involved in the crime.

Jones is accused of fatally shooting Christopher Sanchez, 37, on Aug. 27, in front of Sanchez’s home at 2626 Adams St., N.E. While we were on scene we saw over 24 bullet casings in the street. We learned there may have been up to 27 rounds fired at Sanchez. An indication there were multiple shooters and Sanchez was sadly purposely executed in an barrage of gunfire.
Jones was arrested overnight by New Mexico State Police SWAT officers in Rio Rancho. Detectives were able to identify Jones with assistance from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office. The SWAT standoff was near Buckskin and Rancher Loop in Rio Rancho. Neighbors said they heard a loud boom and shortly after saw two people being escorted away in handcuffs. One of the suspects was Jones and it was unclear who the woman was in cuffs.
Jones spoke with police after his arrest and implicated his involvement with the attempted auto theft and the shooting. Police are still seeking additional involved suspects in this attempted auto theft and homicide.
Jones was booked overnight into the Juvenile Detention Center on an open count of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary, criminal damage to property over $1,000, and conspiracy to commit criminal damage to property over $1,000. He will be placed into the JDC with other murder suspects in custody at the same facility. Sadly the way the children’s criminal code is written up Jones will be NOT tried as an adult.
We reached out to Democrat Speaker of the House Javier Martinez and asked if he regrets dismissing the special session that Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham wanted to convene in July but he did not respond. There were murmurs that some lawmakers would try to change the juvenile justice code to be able to charge juveniles as adults for violent crimes. Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen has blasted the current juvenile system several times during press conferences and is advocating for big changes.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the murder and arrest additional suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call APD at 505-242-COPS or Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers at 505-843-STOP.

Good. Now take this little piece of shit out behind the jail and JUST FUCKING KILL HIM!
Such high standards in this state. You dem voters must be very proud to have more of same each year. It keeps getting worse too.
To bad they did away with the death penalty that’s what these punks deserve. The
Pu_ _sy judges will let them go. My sympathy goes out to the Sanchez family. November is when we can make a change from these democraps bullshit systems
The dems also cacked your britches, no doubt.
No need to share how you will get Dahmerized in prison, we all know how it will end. Have fun!!
The extermanist has the right idea, that’s what they deserve. Disregard for human life deserves death
Civilized people must kill vermin to preserve civilization. Period. No debate.
These days at 16, boys can be just as culpable as adults. It’s sad that their brains really aren’t developed yet, but they still need to be held SERIOUSLY accountable for crimes. Unless they are, more and more younger people will be doing the same thing.
Their parents brains probably aren’t developed yet. We have at least 5 generations that don’t have respect for themselves or teach respect to their children. Also in a blue state there is no accountability weak judges.
They should be, but the way the dems and adults enable in this state, it’s shocking, and disturbing. You correct a young adult, on something as simple as saying “Please, thank you, yes, sir, no sir.” And it’s “leave mijo alone!” The parents actually make excuses as to why their brood cannot say please or thank you. ZERO accountability, and people are rewarded for doing not even sub standard work. The rinse and repeat is the dem party. Once you lower a standard, you never get it back.
Horrific, sickening, senseless & forever will be missed by his family, loved ones, friends near & far, and everyone whom ever had the chance to make his acquaintance…… He was a very caring & helpful individual to those he knew, as well as to those he didn’t. The community has suffered a tremendous loss! As to what was done unto him, shall come back around ten times fold to those that participated in this crime of execution murder!!!!! As to the nature of how this went down, the DEATH PENALTY should be the only outcome of any conviction onto the suspect’s… Especially to the punk-ass 16 yr old that is in custody, who has outright admitted to these heinous crimes he committed, and should be charged as an adult….. Such callous acts, and disrespect for humanity…. His family should as well be held accountable for their sons crimes!!!!!
