Albuquerque –

On Monday afternoon, the Albuquerque Police Department issued an update on the crash that occurred on Sunday, April 30th, 2023, at Coors Blvd NW and Paseo Del Norte Blvd. This is what we learned from APD:

At 10:50AM on Sunday, April 30th, 2023, a serious two-vehicle crash occurred on Coors Blvd. NW at Paseo Del Norte Blvd., leaving several individuals injured and one in critical condition.

The accident occurred when a black Lexus was stopped northbound on Coors Blvd. NW at Paseo Del Norte in the left turn lane and was waiting to make a left turn westbound onto Paseo Del Norte. APD’s civilian PIO Rebecca Atkins reported that:

“Witnesses on scene stated the traffic signal for northbound traffic on Coors Blvd. changed from red to green and the driver of the Lexus proceeded with her left turn signal even though she had a red light. As the driver of the Lexus made the turn, a white 2020 Ford F150 truck was traveling southbound on Coors Blvd. through a green traffic signal and collided with the Lexus.”

The force of the collision was significant, and the passenger of the Lexus was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining serious injuries. The male passenger was taken to UNMH and is listed in critical condition. Both the female driver of the Lexus and male driver of the Ford were transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

APD says that the female driver of the Lexus was suspected of driving while intoxicated. A DWI investigation was conducted. The investigation is still ongoing, and charges are pending for the female driver of the Lexus.

Speed and alcohol were not a factor for the driver for the Ford truck.
