Albuquerque –
At around 8:40 PM, on Monday, February 3, 2025, a vehicle reportedly fled from police near the area of Central Ave NW & 47th St, after committing an armed robbery at El Super, located at 4201 Central Ave NW. The suspects, a male and female, reportedly pointed a gun at the cashier and the male fired a shot on the property before fleeing the scene in a gray Cadillac. The female suspect was later identified as Elena Mirabel.
An officer with the Albuquerque Police Department observed the vehicle matching the description and attempted a traffic stop near Atrisco Dr SW, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, prompting an authorized pursuit, given the charges. Officers followed the vehicle with a long eye, and Air 2 began to launch to help provide assistance from the skies. Before Air 2 could arrive, the gray Cadillac collided with a guardrail and came to a stop on I-25SB at Rio Bravo at 8:55 PM.
Mirabal exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was captured after a foot chase. Upon arrest, it was discovered that she had an outstanding felony warrant for Possession of a controlled substance (felony) and Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was transported for medical clearance and then booked into MDC.
On Monday, until around 10:30 PM, APD officers had Southbound I-25 at Rio Bravo blocked off to investigate and wait for a wrecker.
It is presently unknown what happened to the male who allegedly fired the gun and was observed fleeing the robbery scene with Mirabel. The criminal complaint also states that two people were observed in the vehicle when officers attempted a traffic stop. Throughout the day, we reviewed MDC bookings from last night (2/3) to today (2/4) to see if the male suspect was admitted to a local hospital with incarceritis to delay his transfer to MDC. However, as of this posting, no other suspects for this incident have been booked.
Those named are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
We need ICE to do a massive sweep here. Sadly, it’ll never happen.
Are you one these guys that just assumes every single criminal is here illegally? Do you realize that this is New Mexico and many people have Hispanic or Mexican last names? Doesn’t have indication to their status as citizens.
I’m not pro illegal immigration, but I’ve been seeing some seriously braindead commentary around this.
I’m sorry. Won’t do it again.
She is an illegal that’s been deported twice already.
Genuinely asking: is there a database for stuff like this?
Ya and that new disease called incarceritis to delay going to jail is the newest disease to first hit New Mexico. Incarceritis to delay jail is now considered to be related to the pandemic of calling in sick to delay work.
Northern Mexico needs new leadership, and a tent city prison. A tent city prison, is the kind of place that would make felons want to leave the state. And for those that are released from a tent city, they would rather work two McFast food jobs, than go back there. It would work, which is why the dems won’t allow it. A city/county/state, is only as good as it’s leadership.
@The Tax Payer
