NW Albuquerque – A shooting has left one man clinging to life at UNMH. APD is locking down a perimeter in the area of the Speedway at 201 Coors NW, near the Freddy’s. Witnesses say a man was in a vehicle at that location and was shot in the back of the head by an unknown suspect.

See video footage from the scene here:

While on scene, we observed a red sedan that had bullet holes on the driver side. Just outside of the vehicle was one of the victim’s shoes. It is unclear where the shooting originated, but the victim’s car was stopped in the south right hand lane of Coors Blvd. The car’s windshield wipers kept going back and forth while APD investigators gathered evidence from the scene. The Speedway had classical music playing loudly over the public address system easing tensions.

Southbound Coors from Avalon to Central Ave are closed while investigators gather evidence and witness statements.

If this victim dies it will be the 67th homicide of 2023 for Albuquerque.
