Just before 11:20 PM, police were dispatched to the area of Unser and Ladera for a shooting.

Upon their arrival, they located one person with an apparent fatal gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators will be dispatched to the scene to process it and conduct an investigation.

A witness said they saw paramedics working on an individual and a few wrecked cars in the area.

UPDATE:

After failing to receive information in a media release this morning, we reached out to APD, and they informed us that:

APD homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday evening in the Valley Area Command, near the 2900 block of Carlton St., N.W. Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. Officers initially lost sight of the vehicle. However, automated license plate readers (ALPR) were used to locate the vehicle. After a pursuit, the driver was taken into custody in the area of Unser Blvd and Ladera., N.W. A body was found in the vehicle and a homicide callout was initiated. One person is currently in custody.
