Armed Man Holding Up Traffic on I-40

Albuquerque-

Albuquerque Police are currently working to detain an armed individual in the area of I-40 and Eubank Blvd. SWAT is on scene and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area. 

There is quite a back up of traffic in the area with multiple law enforcement agencies trying to assist in the getting the man into custody.

We will update this story when information becomes available.

UPDATE:

An officer-involved shooting occurred near I-40 and Eubank Blvd after a stand-off between APD officers and an armed suspect. The suspect was shot by police and later died at the scene.

The Multi-Agency Task Force is responding to the scene to start an investigation.

Reportedly, both lanes of I-40 are closed near Eubank. Closures on I-40 are subject to change/expand to nearby exits, check NMDOT/NMROADS for updates.
