NW Albuquerque – A fire broke out late this afternoon in an area behind Boxing Bear Brewery near 3305 Calle Cuervo NW. The area is just north of 528 going into Corrales. It is unknown what started the fire but crews from Corrales Fire Department and AFR were battling it mutually. We could see a wooden fence on fire and a couple large cottonwood trees along with some brush on the ground. It appeared that crews had the fire under control pretty quickly.
Albuquerque Fire and Rescue said in an email: At approximately 4:30 PM 911 calls reported a brush fire in the area of Ellison and Corrales RD. Corrales Fire Department arrived and requested resources from Albuquerque Fire Rescue to assist with a large brush fire that threatened several residential homes. Upon Albuquerque Fire Rescue’s arrival a full Wildland task force was dispatched. Albuquerque Fire Rescue and Corrales Fire department established a unified command post and coordinated efforts to quickly control the brush fire that resulted in approximately a half acre of brush, several cottonwood trees, and several private fences with fire damage. No structures were affected and there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. State forestry wildland resources were also requested to assess and completely extinguish the fire. The fire is under investigation at this time.
