Woman Shoots into House, Charged with Child Abuse

On August 1st, 2022, Bernalillo County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Tyler Road NE in reference to an armed subject. When BCSO deputies arrived they were told Brandi Fitzgerald was outside the residence firing into a home.

According to a criminal complaint, the calling party was Fitzgerald’s sister and said her sister was yelling at the house and stated that if their mom did not come out of the house she would continue to shoot into the house. Before Police arrived, Fitzgerald’s sister told Brandi that she would call the cops, “Go ahead,” Brandi said during the interaction. At least one bullet casing was found on scene.

The complaint goes on to say that they found Fitzgerald at a neighbors house. The neighbors stated they were helping Fitzgerald with food for her children. The neighbor stated Fitzgerald had hidden a gun in a cabinet and the deputies found the firearm in the cabinet.

Fitzgerald is charged with child abuse, tampering with evidence (Highest Crime a Third, Fourth or Indeterminate Degree Felony), and criminal damage to property (Over $1000), and negligent use of a deadly weapon.
