Albuquerque –
On January 22, at approximately 4:00 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department responded to the area of Edith Blvd NE and La Donna Ln NE regarding a serious vehicle-versus-motorcycle crash involving a juvenile. A juvenile was operating a small minibike on the roadway when they were struck. They were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
APD’s Fatal Crash Unit responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.
According to APD, investigators determined that two juveniles were traveling southbound on Edith Blvd NE on minibikes. One juvenile rode southbound in the northbound lane, while the second juvenile traveled southbound on the east dirt shoulder of northbound Edith. Near the intersection of Edith and La Donna, the minibike traveling on the shoulder continued southbound and entered oncoming northbound traffic. A black 2021 Hyundai Elantra traveling northbound on Edith struck the minibike. The impact of the crash ejected the juvenile from the minibike. APD stated that medical personnel transported the juvenile to the hospital in critical condition.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
