Albuquerque –

On July 13, 2024, at around 12:00a.m. APD’s Fatal Crash Team was dispatched to the intersection of McMahon and Kayenta NW in response to a serious injury crash involving a single vehicle. A preliminary investigation indicated that a blue 2006 Chevrolet Pickup was traveling eastbound on McMahon at a high rate of speed.

Witnesses stated that the vehicle was overtaking others and entering opposing traffic lanes. At one point, the Chevrolet lost control, crossed a median, and rolled over multiple times into the southeast corner of the intersection.

The driver of the Chevrolet was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious critical injuries. He was transported to UNMH and remains in critical condition. High speed and reckless driving appear to be contributing factors in this case.
