Homicide Detectives from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting death in the South Valley on Saturday, September 7, 2024. BCSO is presently in the area of Mares Rd SW and Atrisco Dr. SW.

Witnesses on scene told our reporter that they heard three to four gunshots. We observed BCSO deputies interviewing other witnesses at this location.
According to BCSO, “details are limited as the investigation is still in its early stages.”
We will update you if we learn more about this homicide, the victim, or if anyone is taken into custody.
This is the 86th homicide for the Albuquerque metro area for 2024.

APD just came out with an update saying homicides are down compared to this time last year. But they are only reporting 66 homicides rather than 86. That is a large gap!!! Can someone explain this
Looks like there’s another one at the same spot right now. Atrisco is shut down at Rosendo Garcia and the crime scene van is there.
