4th of July Homicide happens just after midnight in SE ABQ

SE Albuquerque – APD through a spokesman said a homicide investigation was launched just after midnight on the 4th of July. The Albuquerque Police Department’s Homicide Unit is said to have taken over a shooting investigation that occurred just after midnight in southeast Albuquerque. Initial reports said there was a possible car crash, when officers originally arrived near the area of Kathryn AV SE and Columbia DR SE they located one individual who was shot dead prior to their arrival.

This discovery launched a Homicide Investigation, detectives were on scene and took over the investigation. We will add additional information if more is learned or provided. No one is in custody at this time.

This is Albuquerque’s 72nd homicide of 2023.
