Albuquerque –

At 7:38 PM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) was dispatched to 400 Maple Street SE for a structure fire at an apartment complex. When AFR arrived, they were actively searching for individuals potentially trapped within the structure, but reportedly no one was found. At least twelve AFR units were originally on scene.

The Albuquerque Police Department is also present at the scene, directing lanes of traffic to facilitate the safe operation of the fire units. AFR is requesting APD to restrict access to Coal Ave SE from Ash St SE to Maple St SE and Lead Ave SE from Ash St SE to Maple St SE. Road closures may be modified as the situation develops.

UPDATE:

AFR sent an update just after us posting this which stated:

Engine 3 arrived on scene and reported a 3-story multifamily dwelling with a working fire on Division 3.  The apartment complex was evacuated and the fire apartment was searched and cleared.  The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes of their arrival. Damage to the structure included 1 occupancy with heavy fire, smoke and water damage.  The apartment below the fire also had water damage.  No injuries to civilians. No firefighters were injured. AFR Fire Investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the fire. The fire originated in the kitchen.  Approximately 10 individuals will be displaced as a result of this incident.  Red Cross has been requested to assist with their accommodations. No additional information available at this time.
