Accident and Gas Leak Cause Traffic Chaos at Gibson and Girard

Albuquerque –

Just after 1:35 PM, the Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire Rescue were sent to a multiple vehicle crash at Gibson and Girard. A car reportedly rolled over in the crash, and a bystander said there was a gas line blowing gas.

When officers and rescue workers arrived, they found two people with serious injuries. AFR’s Rescue 4 and Rescue 5 reportedly took the injured to a local area hospital.

NM Gas company has arrived to turn off the gas.

APD Officers and Police Service Aides are blocking off streets in the area due to the gas line leak and crash investigation. Gibson is shut down between Amherst and Yale.

UPDATE:

APD’s Motors Unit is purportedly responding to start an investigation into this serious-injury crash at Gibson and Girard.

Drives are urged to avoid the area.
