Albuquerque –
At around 4:30 AM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were dispatched to the area of Madeira and Eastern, in reference to a shooting. Reportedly, there were over 20 plus shots fired in this area. When officers arrived, they found one person who was shot and they died on scene.
ABQ RAW did not learn about this homicide until late in the afternoon from neighbors alerting us to the two APD RV crime scene vehicles. As of late, the APD public information office has been delaying the release of violent crime information and other critical incidents happening throughout the city.
It should be noted that over 20 shots were fired around 11:30 PM on September 20, 2024, near Madeira and Anderson. Dispatchers advised officers to be careful in this area, as ShotSpotter recorded numerous rounds fired.
APD homicide detectives and crime scene specialists have been investigating this shooting death throughout the day. Witnesses in the neighborhood said they saw a gunfight happen between a group of individuals and heard the exchange of gunfire between people. Investigators were meticulously looking through the street for evidence and quite a few cars were struck by bullets.
This is the 92nd homicide of 2024. If we learn more about this incident, we will update you.
My daughter lives right there and saw all the police and crime scene tape and the rv but didn’t know what was happening until I filled her in. She was in shock
Can you please tell me what happened????
Almost 100! We can do it Albuquerque!
We can break 150 homiecides for the year at this pace if enough homies and illegal aliens and cartel activities prevail. Dreamy Timmy and Gomer Medina are making it a banner year!!!
Where’s the video!? Come on man, if Disney can show LMONOPQRSTUV scenes to children, you can show us a firefight.
Your sexualization of the *LGBTQ* community says a lot more about what’s on *your mind* than anything else.
You enjoy some “alternative” adult entertainment, just like Mark “lunchbox” Robinson, don’t you.
O did your manly/womanly feelings get hurt? How do I think parents of young children feel when you think it’s ok to use the restroom of your choice?
Does anyone know what happened and will tell me
Why the silence from the cops. Are these cops protecting someone from prosecution. APD is probably the most incompetent department in the nation. They are worse than Texas LEOs. APD never releases any updates once the scene has been reopened. We can’t blame the criminals for doing their deeds it’s the police department that are to blame for doing nothing or them sitting on their thumbs waiting for crime to solve it’s self.
I live on this street. Just one block away is the new office building for Albuquerque Community Safety. I think they should call themselves Albuquerque Criminal Safety. They opened up less than year ago. Now there are more drug addict zombies camped out on Madeira Dr SE and the other nearby streets than ever before. They camp out in front of our apartments in groups with their piles of stuff (probably stolen) and vehicles without license plates. You hear gunshots at night. You find needles and burnt aluminum foil (used for smoking fentanyl) in the streets. Go along San Mateo, Gibson, Zuni, or San Pedro and you see boarded up stores. Some these buildings have been are a target of arson. Where is the “community safety” we were promised? It’s worse than ever. The police never patrol the area. They only come to pick up the dead.
The Community “Safety” people only deal with the homeless really and only if a call has been cleared safe before even that. They’re basically the leftist “send social workers not police” wet dream even though they don’t do much besides drain taxpayer money. Can’t really blame APD for them since that is entirely Mayor Timmah’s call.
Hate the capitalist economy, not the people losing their lives to it.
You may enjoy slave work, but the rest of us aren’t masochists.
Also, maybe include yourself in a court audience on one of these cases; the cops aren’t showing up.
Least misanthropic comment. Please keep to yourself in public, like if you care for your well-being….don’t forget what city you live in.
I agree with you. What is the City of Albuquerque doing and why is this being kept hush, hush? We have a right to know. The cops won’t even respond to several types of incidents leaving the victim to have to submit reports on line adding insult to injury. It’s worse than ever and it will only continue to worsen because nothing is being done. The criminal walks IF they are ever caught. Wanna kill someone and get away with it, come to Albuquerque. So many of these apartments are being walked into squatters everywhere it’s depressing. This city has become a refuge for all criminals & addicts.
Most homeless in the war zone are zombie addicts. ACS is attracting more zombie addicts to our corner of the war zone.
We manage over 400 units in this area, of Katheryn and San Mateo, the police are over worked, 4 per shift. City management in this area is the worst in the city, stores closing, services lacking, crime raising, homeless on every corner, citizens living in fear. And this mayor wants a third term, you must be kidding. The complaint is we don’t have enough units to house our residents. So, we don’t protect the units we do have, nor the residents who live in this community. Vagrants on almost every corner, threatening employees, elders, where mothers with children are afraid to walk to the parks, or schools. City management and priorities are a mess, creating an environment of fear, and insecurity. We deserve better than this in our City. We need new management, we need to commit ourselves to protecting our citizens, not giving vagrants more rights then our Citizens.
I believe it’s not called the War Zone anymore.
Is there like a map area of what they call the War Zone? I’m thinking of good merchandising and selling it to the tourists. Help the victims out. “I survived the Burque War Zone.” Or “I survived tomorrow land.” ABQ ranks the 20th deadliest city in the world. You don’t the worthless politicians make money off the crime here?
War zone is roughly Eubank on the east, San Mateo on the west, Copper on the north and Gibson/Southern on the South. You could say it goes further east to Juan Tabo and further north to Lomas at least in some places.
Maybe the New $60 Million dollar soccer stadium, can add some tiny homes, to attract the unhoused?
