AFR Battling Blaze at 2626 Central Ave SW

Albuquerque Fire Rescue is responding to a structure fire at 2626 Central Ave SW. A city worker reportedly called in the fire after observing smoke emanating from the building.

Engine 1 arrived first on scene to report that this was an abandoned, commercial building. AFR is reporting that this structure as incurred numerous fires in the past, they have said that at least three fires have happened here.

Engine 7 is presently establishing a water supply and Ladder 1 is purportedly checking the integrity of the roof. Ladder 1 said they saw a homeless person flee from a window of the structure, but at the time of this posting, it is unknown if any other individuals are inside of the building.

AFR requested calling APD to assist with traffic control for the eastbound lanes of traffic at this fire. APD and AFR are trying to block traffic at Tingley, so drivers are advised to avoid the area for now.

As of 9:30AM, APD and AFR reopened Central and Tingley.
