SE Albuquerque –
On August 7, 2025 just before 12:00 pm, AFR was dispatched to 1100 Madeira Dr. SE for an automatic alarm activation. After receiving additional information AFR’s Alarm Room upgraded the call to a structure fire response.
AFR’s PIO Jason Fejer was the first arriving unit on scene and reported seeing a working fire with smoke and fire showing from the first floor at the back east side of the building. Engine 2 arrived and stretched a line through the building for search and fire control. This was an outside fire up against the building that resulted in the failure of two windows which filled the common hallways on the first and second floors with smoke. The fire was quickly controlled by AFR personnel.
Searches were all clear but three people on the third floor had to shelter in place until the hallways could be ventilated with their fancy positive pressure fans. There were no reports of injuries to the occupants or firefighters. AFR Fire Investigators did respond to the scene to determine if an investigation would be conducted. No other information is currently available.
